Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected virtually every aspect of society. Through the loss of access to designated playspaces, public libraries, family centres, and the ability to gather socially there will certainly be a lasting impact on play, which is incredibly important to the development of human beings and their overall health. Many families are facing new stresses and challenges possibly including balancing work, play, rest, and family relationships all in one space. This study will begin with an exploration of the impact of COVID-19 on play, and will evolve into the co-construction of resources and materials to support play at home. The Regina Early Learning Centre will be using findings from the study to inform how their organization can continue to support families to play in and around their homes.
