Abstract

Virus particles can be found in the inlet of sewage treatment plants, ie in untreated wastewater. A quantitative detection of this viral RNA can provide information on the extent to which the disease is rampant in the catchment area of the sewage treatment plants. In this way, the spread of the disease can be recorded. Such an analysis tool can support health authorities in developing recommendations for action.
