Abstract

People experiencing homelessness are at high risk of COVID-19, which can spread rapidly in homeless shelters. The COVENANT study will obtain in-depth information on COVID-19 infections among people experiencing homelessness in Toronto. The study will follow a group of individuals who are homeless to identify new cases of COVID-19 over the next 12 months, identify factors that increase the risk of COVID-19, and build a model that accurately predicts the number of COVID-19 cases expected in the homeless population. Information from this study will be immediately useful to help guide public health strategies and housing interventions to prevent and control COVID-19 among people experiencing homelessness.
