Abstract

This is a group of researchers from USP in association with the Department of Health with the aim of studying viral epidemics. Genomic sequencing techniques, epidemiological data and human movement are used to understand viral spread. We also seek to develop epidemic prediction models. Our main target is arboviruses, but due to the COVID-19 epidemic, we are focusing our efforts on sequencing a large number of samples and associating these data with epidemiological data. We are also developing tools to predict the number of cases and the need for ICU beds.
