Abstract

The description of cases acquired in hospitals and the mechanisms of transmission of the 2019- nCoV 2019 infection in health services is essential to contain the epidemic. To improve the quality of care and safety of patients and professionals, these data must be accompanied by an analysis of the impact of infection control measures. In addition, an effective infection control program is needed to control the spread of the virus and protect uninfected patients who need care for other medical or surgical conditions. This is a prospective, observational, non-interventional study carried out in hospitals, with evaluation of adults and children. The project aims to obtain accurate descriptions of cases of nosocomial infection by SARS-CoV-2; provide knowledge of the impact of infection control recommendations advocated in hospitals; describe potential transmission chains of SARS-CoV-2 infection in hospitals; increase the awareness of professionals about their role in preventing the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in hospitals and immediate surroundings.
