Abstract
In this project, we describe the treatment results of COVID-19 patients who were hospitalized in Estonia in 2020 and identify the risk factors for poorer disease costs. We assess the variability of the applied treatment methods in Estonia and the compliance with the treatment standards. We analyze the immune response of COVID-19 patients both during their hospital stay and in a later period, and we try to explain the temporal dynamics of the development and persistence of the immune response in the Estonian cohort. Genetic research helps to clarify the hereditary risk factors for COVID-19 in the Estonian population. We explain the efficacy of plasma from COVID-19 survivors in the treatment of COVID-19 patients. The project represents the competence of the University of Tartu in clinical medicine, epidemiology and statistics, immunology, virology and genetics in cooperation with all Estonian hospitals where COVID-19 patients were treated.
