Abstract

Google translate: The National Center for Electrochemistry and Environmental Technologies (CNETE) wishes to participate in the development of a new oral and nasal vaccine based on probiotics. The CNETE team, in collaboration with two companies, will develop a system for displaying antigenic viral proteins from SARS-COV-2 on the surface of bacteria commonly used as probiotics. Oral or nasal administration of these enhanced probiotics will activate an immune response stimulating the production of antibodies against the virus causing COVID-19. The success of the project will allow the companies involved in this project to continue the development of the vaccine against COVID-19 by carrying out preclinical trials on an animal model (mouse). This innovative system could be used for the development of vaccines against several pathogens in the near future. For Canada, the design of a vaccine against SARS-COV-2 would make it possible to lift the restrictions linked to the current health crisis more quickly while allowing the country to position itself as a leader in the search for a solution to this global pandemic. The project will have a significant impact for the companies involved, the CNETE and Canada.]
