Abstract

Human exposure to environmental pollutants is increasingly linked to increased susceptibility to viral diseases. This link was highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic, as there were suspicions that environmental pollution would promote the spread of pandemic viruses. Nevertheless, the precise impact of this association between pollutants and emerging viruses is largely unclear.
