Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed long-standing inequalities: vulnerable groups have a greater, unequal burden of COVID-19 infection. Finding and addressing the key underlying differences has become a top priority in preparation for subsequent pandemics. Mathematical models were important in determining national measures, but so far no inequalities in society have been taken into account. It is difficult to properly include the causes of inequality in models.
