Abstract
EAWAG analyses the wastewater from 6 sewage treatment plants across Switzerland every day for the presence of SARS-CoV-2 RNA. The aim is to use this data to estimate the spread of SARS-CoV-2 in the Swiss population, in addition to determining the number of cases. In addition, experience with the analysis of wastewater will be collected that can be used to set up a national monitoring system. This includes, for example, an estimate of how well wastewater analyses can predict the course of the pandemic when the number of cases is low or which criteria should be taken into account when selecting WWTPs for monitoring.
