Abstract

Global changes, Covid-19 among them, have been accompanied by large-scale digitalisation of the learning process. Due to its complexity, e-learning can lead to many problems and increase interruptions and dropouts if the necessary skills and prerequisites are not available. Self-regulated learning and goal-setting skills are crucial for effective e-learning, developing learning autonomy, and agency. The aim of the GOAL-RL project is twofold: first, based on the theories of self-regulated learning, goal orientation and goal-setting, to develop the concept of goal-regulated learning and its model with the mediating factors in the context of higher and secondary education, in online and face-to-face learning environments. In order to do that, a virtual platform of teachers' community of practice with technical application of a goal-setting instrument is designed and piloted through four years (2 cycles). As the result of the analyses, the model will be developed and tested to make predictions about the learning outcomes based on the learners' goal-setting, value and expectancy components, and the mediating mechanisms of focus, effort, persistence and strategies. Second, the project aims to assess the value of a teachers' virtual community of practice, where knowledge is transferred from novice teachers to experienced teachers. The virtual community of practice for teachers supports the professional development of novice and experienced teachers and strengthens their professional network.
