Abstract

Timely detection and prevention of mental health problems is of critical importance in promoting population mental health and well-being. Accurate and prompt information on population (incl. vulnerable groups) mental health is an input for mental health policy planning and prevention during crisis. The central part of this proposal is a comprehensive longitudinal survey of mental health in the Estonian population after Covid-19 pandemic. Based on the results, a system of continuous monitoring of mental health is compiled. The survey will be linked to national registries; follow-up surveys in 3 existing cohorts will allow comparison with pre-pandemic situation. We will conduct a validation study to validate and optimize the survey data, and a qualitative study (in-depth interviews) in vulnerable groups. An overview of Estonian population's mental health (incl. recent changes) is produced, as well as recommendations for alleviating the situation of vulnerable groups during crisis.
