Abstract

This infographic is based on a pan-Canadian study that quantified the impacts of eating disorders in youth and young adults on the healthcare system during the COVID-19 pandemic. The infographic conveys that while the estimated costs of eating disorders on the health system is high, the numbers only capture the tip of the iceberg considering the lack of available data about eating disorders in national databases. The infographic's call for a coordinated national data and monitoring strategy to inform public health decisions aligns with IHDCYH's values and objectives of data sharing, collaboration, and evidence-informed decisions that responds to the diverse needs of children, youth, and families.
