Abstract
Keep It Real & Viral - KIRV is an exchange project where high school students, teachers, Local Authorities (LAs) repres., and experts from 2 EU countries will take part in 3 days of presentations, debates, workshops on fake news. The event will explore the ways in which fake news affect 3 fundamental issues for the future of Europe: Human rights (i.e. discrimination based on culture, race and gender); Science (i.e. COVID-19, vaccines); EU integration (i.e. Euroscepticism). KIRV goals are: 1.To organise debates and exchanges between high school students, teachers, experts, CSOs (i.e. monitoring fake news, fighting discrimination, etc.) and representatives of LAs to foster shared awareness about fake news, their impacts on specific issues and their diffusion in the digital world. 2.To identify practices and tools for students to tackle disinformation in a more informed, participatory, and creative way, recognising correct information as an asset for them and their peers. 3.To give teachers and LAs the chance to discover and make use of best practices and easy-to-access practical tools to fight disinformation also at local level. 4.To allow representatives of LAs to understand the feelings and perceptions of the younger members of their communities about the issues at stake. 5.To stimulate students to use their digital skills to convey new narratives fostering EU values and promoting solidarity and intercultural dialogue. KIRV outputs are: 1- 200 participants (high school students, etc.) involved in the exchange and made more aware of fake news, their impacts and diffusion in the digital world. 2- 10 representatives of LAs made aware of their citizens' perception. 3- At least 20 KIRV Art-Facts (short clips, memes, gifs) to tackle fake news, conceived for maximum diffusion on social media, especially those more appealing to youngsters (i.e., TikTok). 4- The KIRV Checklist, multilingual easy-to-access practical guidelines to fight disinformation at local level.
