Abstract
Our PHRESH project aims to improve Luxembourg's infectious disease surveillance by developing novel and integrating existing digital infrastructure for more effective threat management. Reflecting on the COVID-19 response, PHRESH will focus on strengthening national surveillance by piloting data streams directly from hospital emergency departments (thus enabling severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) surveillance). We will also expand the One Health approach by developing a cross-sectoral exchange platform (a national "Epipulse") which will ensure seamless information sharing with national and international stakeholders. Further, our project will aim to create a single digital platform which can integrate epidemiologically relevant data from a variety of different sources including laboratories, hospitals, doctors and patients using the international SORMAS framework. By incorporating human, animal, and environmental health data, PHRESH aims to build capacity that is resilient in the face of future cross-border health crises thus bolstering health security both in Luxembourg and in the European Union.
