Abstract
Project Balneology and medical spa - sustainable way to improve and foster health in the EU, aims to promote balneology, spa medicine, wellbeing and a healthy lifestyle in Europe as a curative and preventive approach, through the use of natural remedies, rehabilitation techniques and education. Overall aim will be achieved through following specific aims: 1/To establish a network between medical spa operators, medical staff and patient group for exchange of innovations, best practices, know-how and to share experience in the field of medical spa/climate health destinations, medical spa products, medical spa concepts, educational and digital tools, scientific research and publications and technology development in rehabilitation centres. 2/To ensure a platform, gathering policy makers, civil society and different health, medical and patient organizations and to raise their awareness on the benefits of balneotherapy and medical spa for chronic disease and lifestyle prevention, health promotion, improvement of the surveillance, diagnosis and treatment of non-communicable diseases. 3/To increase the information and awareness among the wide audience for the long term positive effect of balneotherapy and medical spa in treatment of different deceases, such as non-communicable diseases, post-COVID-19 after care, mental health, cancer aftercare, cardiovascular problems; including prevention and healthy lifestyle through balneotherapy and medical spa. 4/To promote, present and educate the auditory for the benefits of natural remedies and highlight the medical know-how in European spa and climate health destinations 5/To promote well-being, spa medicine experiences, innovations and best practices for treatment /prevention of diseases and thus to reduce the costs of public health 6/Optimisation of healthcare activities and practices through integration of balneology and medicine spa in conventional medicine, through development of publication and training materials.
