Abstract

Side Effects Center Lareb is the reporting and knowledge center for side effects of medicines and vaccines. By analyzing reports of suspected side effects from patients and healthcare providers, Lareb discovers new knowledge about side effects. In this project, Lareb collaborates with the Leiden University Center and the Haga Hospital. In hospitals, information about patients is stored in 'electronic patient files' (EPDs). This also includes information about possible side effects that patients experience after a COVID-19 vaccination. This information is searched for with a 'software tool'. Lareb analyzes this information from the EPDs and the other reports received. This improves the discovery of new knowledge about side effects. This project thus leads to innovation in the safety monitoring of medicines and vaccines. Also in the event of a possible next pandemic.
