Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic is behind us, but the consequences for the mental health of children and young people are still felt. The national COVID-19 Wellbeing and Mental Health Consortium has been monitoring the mental health of more than 25,000 Dutch children and young people since 2020. The results show a clear increase in anxiety and depressive symptoms during the pandemic, with only partial recovery afterwards. At the same time, a lot of knowledge has been built up about the impact of health crises in combination with other environmental factors on the mental health of young people. However, these insights are scattered and difficult to access for professionals. To make better use of this knowledge in policy, research, education and clinical practice, there is a need for a central, accessible and visually attractive source of knowledge.
