Abstract
During COVID-19, many mathematical models have been developed to understand the dynamics of respiratory infections and the effect of policy measures. These models have been used to evaluate what worked and where improvements can be made in view of the next pandemic. However, in a new outbreak, a model is only useful if it can be quickly adapted to a new pathogen and a new situation. This requires updating, recalibrating and testing the model.
