Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic showed the importance of long-term research cohorts to monitor the spread of respiratory viruses and people's immune responses. The previously established SWITCH network provided valuable insights for policy and advice, but a sustainable national infrastructure is currently lacking. SENTINEL-Net builds on existing initiatives to strengthen research and pandemic preparedness for future respiratory virus outbreaks.
