Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the workload of employees in elderly care in The Hague increased significantly. ZorgScala thought it was very important to properly support elderly care employees in this complex situation. They wanted to ensure that employees became or remained mentally fit. That they went to work with a positive feeling, were able to set priorities, kept their own interests and development needs in mind and were able to find a balance between work and home situations. ZorgScala had put together a pool of experienced and certified coaches who supported employees who were under pressure due to the pandemic. The researchers focused on employees who fulfilled the roles of Care Assistant, Helper, Nursing IG and Nurse. The questions and personal work situation of the employees were the starting point for the coaching processes. They hoped that after the project the employees would feel better about themselves, deal with setbacks more easily and go to work more positively.
