Abstract

The project "One Team, One Europe! Youth Sports and Mental Health for Post-COVID Solidarity" is an initiative led by the Municipality of Xaló, Spain, aimed at addressing the significant mental health challenges faced by youth across Europe in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. With a strong focus on promoting mental well-being through sports, this project brings together young people, youth workers, sports organizations, and mental health professionals from eight European countries: Spain, Serbia, Portugal, Croatia, Poland, Bulgaria, Slovenia, and the Czech Republic. The project's main objective is to explore and promote the positive impact of sports on mental health, particularly for youth, while fostering European solidarity and mutual understanding. Over the course of a two-day event, participants will engage in a series of workshops, discussions, and sports activities designed to equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to implement effective sports programs in their local communities. These activities will also emphasize the importance of gender equality, with over 55% of participants being young women and several sessions specifically addressing female mental health issues.
